(ALEXIS LEIVA MACHADO) KCHO
The exhibition Kcho titled "Monument final", which opens at the Galleria Tega Milan Tuesday, May 21 at 18.00 in Via Senato 20, has a special meaning, because it opens before the "Venice Biennale" this year, and in fact the catalog of the exhibition at the 2011's Venice Biennale is taken and updated.
To mix this two events contribute five works proposed in the previous and important occasion such as Lampedusa (project "Monument final") and Lampedusa No. 2 and new five large works never seen before. The recurring theme of the artist, born in Cuba in 1970, is the emigration.
After recounting the odyssey of his fellow countrymen in search of fortune on the shores of Florida, Kcho noted that even here in Italy, there is the same problem from years, in fact there is every years a big influx of refugees who are the first landing in Lampedusa. So was born a cycle of compositions, often designed with aggressive strokes of pastel, mirroring similar in spirit and painting.
The exhibition which ends July 27, 2013 is accompanied by a catalog published by Luciano Caprile.
